Discover Tamán

If you're looking for a cozy, yet vibrant dining spot in the heart of Madrid, Tamán might just be the place to visit. Nestled at C. de Alfonso VI, 6, Centro, 28005 Madrid, Spain, this delightful restaurant offers a unique dining experience that combines both traditional and modern flavors, perfectly complementing its central location.

Upon entering Tamán, you're immediately embraced by the warm atmosphere. The interior feels like an elegant blend of modern touches with classic charm, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The ambiance feels inviting, with soft lighting and a tasteful decor that sets the perfect mood for a relaxed yet sophisticated meal.

The menu is undoubtedly one of the stars of this restaurant. With a wide variety of dishes that showcase the finest Spanish ingredients, there's something for everyone. Whether you’re craving a classic Spanish paella or something a little more innovative, Tamán offers a rich selection. The focus is not just on taste, but also on fresh, quality ingredients. Dishes are made with love and attention to detail, ensuring that each bite is as delightful as the last. From seafood to meats and vegetarian options, every dish is crafted to offer a memorable experience.

For starters, one of the most popular choices is their signature gazpacho, a chilled soup made from ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, and a perfect blend of spices. It's light, refreshing, and the perfect way to begin your meal. If you’re in the mood for something heartier, the croquetas de jamón (ham croquettes) are a must-try. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, they’re rich in flavor, and it’s hard to stop at just one.

Main courses at Tamán are equally impressive. The grilled octopus, served with a smoky paprika sauce, has become a favorite among regulars. The octopus is tender, perfectly charred, and pairs beautifully with the rich flavors of the sauce. For meat lovers, the slow-cooked lamb shoulder is tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, seasoned with a medley of Spanish herbs. The restaurant also offers an array of delicious vegetarian dishes, like the quinoa-stuffed peppers, which are as visually stunning as they are flavorful.

The dessert menu is the perfect way to cap off a delightful meal. Their homemade tarta de Santiago, a traditional almond cake, is a fan favorite. It’s light, not overly sweet, and has just the right balance of texture and flavor. If you're in the mood for something more decadent, their chocolate fondant is a rich, molten delight that pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

While the food is undoubtedly the highlight, the service at Tamán is also worth mentioning. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations based on your preferences. They make you feel right at home, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular.

The location of Tamán in Madrid’s Centro district also makes it a great stop after a day of sightseeing. Whether you’re strolling through the nearby Plaza Mayor or visiting the Royal Palace, Tamán is just a short walk away, making it an excellent choice for both locals and tourists alike. The restaurant’s central location means that you can easily enjoy a leisurely meal after exploring the city, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy great food.

Reviews of Tamán speak highly of the consistent quality and the atmosphere. Guests often mention the impressive wine list, which features a range of both local and international wines, making it easy to find the perfect pairing for your meal. There’s also a variety of cocktails for those looking for something a little stronger.

One of the unique aspects of Tamán is its ability to cater to a wide range of dietary needs without compromising on flavor. Whether you're vegan, gluten-free, or looking for a low-carb option, there are plenty of choices that cater to all. It’s clear that the restaurant values inclusivity, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a delightful meal.

For those planning a special event, Tamán also offers private dining options. Whether it's a business dinner, birthday celebration, or family gathering, the team at Tamán is ready to help you create an unforgettable experience. The flexibility of the space and the personalized service make it a standout choice for hosting an event in Madrid.

  • What a great experience! The concept is interesting and refreshing from the standard eating out experience. The service and hospitality was great and yes, the food is authentic and delicious.

  • Not your typical mexican food. The menu changes every week and is a surprise when you get there. Super authentic plates that you would have if you were invited to eat at someone’s mother’s house in mexico. The real stuff. Regional dishes. All the food is super flavorful and really tasty. And they have a cute shiba inu named milpa who manages the restaurant hehe.

  • Amazing place! Staff was so nice and helpful! They explained everything on the menu with great details! It was like home cooked and so delicious! They also change the menu each week! And for what you get its very affordable!! I can't recommend it more!! If you are into Mexican home made food, this is the place to be! But make sure you make a reservation before coming, as it's very small place.

  • Second time in this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. It’s superb home made Mexican food, and is essentially non tacos. At the time of writing, they have a rotating menu each week. Everything what we tried was excellent so I have no doubts it will continue that way. Just be open to try what they offer. Service is also a 5/5 with much time dedicated to explain each dish in detail. Make reservations, it’s a small place. Thanks Estefania and Luis

  • It is very important to read their website because this is not a traditional restaurant. The concept is good, but could be improved for what I’ve experienced. Everything is supposed to make you feel at home, but it doesn’t. Food did transport us to a Mexican house, yet the atmosphere is strange. Each table has 20 minutes to arrive, so if you’re the first one expect to be all alone. I did not necessarily felt warmed welcome by the owner, reading the other comments I’m not the only one. Writing in capital letters things on the menu means that you are screaming, how come you can be agressive like this? Reading how you answer to other customers is disrespectful. Still three stars as the woman cooking was very helpful and the food was good.

  • My wife is from Mexico and we have been wanting to check out this place for a while now, so celebrating our anniversary was a good opportunity. This is not a regular restaurant where you order from a set menu. The owners - Elizabeth and Luis are also the ones that take your order, make your drinks and cook your food. You have to reserve in advance, and the menu is not set in stone. Elisabeth was wlthe person that welcomed us and explain the dishes and the concept. She is super nice and warm, and service overall is just amazing. Food was very unique - don't expect the Mexican/texmex bar food. All their dishes areade from elaborated home cooked recepies. We had a soup of Poblano Chile and corn, cochinica enchilada, chilaquiles with shrimp in Chipotle sauce, and vegetarian "tortitas" (savory pancakes). Everything was absolutely delishes and I can wait to come back and try more. At the end of the dinner we left the place with a great feeling and instead of leaving a restaurant, we felt we were leaving a house a family member that hosted us for dinner. Thanks for everything Elizabeth! 100% we will be back soon, and we'll bring more friends. Prices were also very fair. Overall value for money - 9/10

  • We have been to Taman at least 5-6 times and every single time the food is absolutely fantastic. The service was beyond friendly from our first visit and now we truly feel like we are part of the family. We have travelled a lot in Mexico and were not expecting to find such amazing Mexican food in Madrid but we did. Hands down one of the best dining experiences in the city. We absolutely adore this place and can't wait for many more visits.

  • This was hands down the most authentic Mexican food in Spain. It is also not a typical restaurant it is very much like eating at your grandmas house. The menu changes every week. We had reservations at 830 party of 4 and one other couple showed up. They let us in and locked the door behind us. Then she explained the food and every plate that was brought out was amazing. It was nice not to have people coming and going. The grandma brings out some dishes who is very proud and so happy that you are enjoying the food it pours out of her. They only serve Mexican drinks so tequila and beer. I took no food pictures as everything was so fantastic that we all forgot to take pictures
